Yi Xin is the Director for Sino-German Urban Rural and Architectural Research Center at Southeast University, Head of AESOP-Academic Committee of Urban Transformation in Europe and China, Secretary-General of Digital City Department of Historical and Cultural City Committee of Chinese Society for Urban Studies, Director of the First Council of Urban Design Branch of Architectural Society of China, a member of Academic Committee of Industrial Architectural Heritage of Architectural Society of China, a member of the World Society for Ekistics (WSE). He is the Editorial Board Member of Frontier of Architectural Research(A & HCI database), mainly engaged in urban renewal and historical protection, theoretical research and teaching related to urban design.

In recent years, he has presided over and participated in more than 10 national and provincial scientific research programs, such as the programs of National Natural Science Foundation of China and Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province. He has published 8 works in total, including 3 monographs (1 dependently wrote in German) as the first author, 2 works edited by him, 3 translations, and 2 chapters of foreign monographs of which he co-edited. He has published more than 40 journals and conference papers in core journals at home and abroad. As the project leader, he has successively presided over and participated in more than 20 engineering project designs, and served as the founder of the international tour of “City Vision 1910 | 2010: Berlin • Paris • London • Chicago • Nanjing • Beijing • Qingdao • Guangzhou”
