Chun Qing is a designer in charge of relic conservation projects, a national first-class registered structural engineer, a review expert of the National Natural Science Foundation, and a review expert of the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province. He is mainly engaged in the research and teaching of historical building conservation.

He successively took charge of more than 10 important scientific research projects, including 4 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 2 Key R&D Program Project of Jiangsu Province. He has published 5 works and more than 200 academic papers, among which more than 100 papers are indexed by SCI/EI, and obtained 12 software copyrights and 20 plus granted patents. He has edited 1 national building standard design atlas and participated in 4 national standards and trade standards.

He successively took charge of or participated in the research and design of more than 100 historical buildings preservation projects, including the world cultural heritage – The Great Wall, Beijing, Quxi Building in Liuyuan, Suzhou, Lingzhaoxuan in Yanxi Palace of the Imperial Palace, Yuxu Palace in Wudang Mountain, the hall of the Xiaoling Tomb of the Ming Dynasty in Nanjing, etc. The national key relic conservation sites - the Former Residence of Ganxi in Nanjing, the site of Dabaoen Temple in Jinling, the Former Site of Jinling Arsenal, the Former Site of Suzhou and Zhejiang Military Area of the New Fourth Army, the Lounge Bridge in Taishun, the Main Hall of Baoguo Temple in Ningbo, Songbin Hall in Meiyuan, Wuxi, Taibai Building in Caishiji, Ma’ anshan, Anhui Province, Former Residence of Abing in Wuxi, China National Museum of Industry and Commerce, Huangpu Hall at the Former Site of Inspirational Community, Yumiao Audience Hall of Shaoxing Dayu’s Mausoleum, the Former Site of the Senate of the Interim Government, Putang Bridge in Lishui, the Former Site of National Art Museum, major national, provincial and municipal project- Bridge Maintenance Relic Preservation Project of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, etc. In 2009, he won 2 awards for 2nd Excellent Design in Relic Preservation in Jiangsu Province. In 2013, he was selected into the talent plans including “Huaying Scholars” of Huaying Foundation, and Teaching and Scientific Research Funding for Outstanding Young Teachers of Southeast University, in the same year, he won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education. In 2016, he won 1 Architectural Creation Silver Award of the Architectural Society of China, and he won 1 National Sino-Thai Gold Teaching Award of Southeast University. He won the first prize of the 11th Architectural Creation Award of the Jiangsu Civil Engineering& Architectural Society in 2017, 1 first prize and 1 third prize of Architectural Creation Award of the Jiangsu Civil Engineering & Architectural Society in 2018. The Conservation Project of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge designed in 2019 won the fifth National Excellent Historic Sites Preservation Project Award, in the same year, he won 1 first prize of Huaxia Construction Science and 1 first prize of Architectural Creation Award of the Jiangsu Civil Engineering& Architectural Society. In 2021, he received 1 first-class prize in State Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
