Research direction: architectural design and theory, Digital Architecture and CAAD,BIM and CIBS,Cinematic Architecture and Virtual Space
Dr. YU Chuanfei, who got his Doctor Degree of architecture in Southeast University in 2002, worked as a post-doctor in School of Architecture, Tsinghua University from 2002 to 2004. From 2004 he has been working as an associate professor in School of Architecture, Southeast University, is mainly engaged in architectural design, related theoretical research and teaching. He had served as a deputy director of the Department of Architecture from 2010 to 2014, and visited Texas A&M University in the United States from 2015 to 2016.
Dr. Yu’s research interests include Computer-Aided Architectural Design (CAAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Computer Integrated Building System (CIBS), Cinematic Architecture and Interactive Virtual Space in Architecture. In recent years, his research and design has been focused on digital diagram and dynamic image of architecture, virtual space based on game engine and XR technology, digital encoding and transcoding of cultural symbols in Jiangnan architectural culture, and other related fields. As a PI or Co-PI, YU Chuanfei has also worked on over twenty research and/or design projects which funded by kinds of sources including National Natural Science Foundation in China (NSFC). He has published over 4 books (/book chapters) and about forty research papers in different professional journals and international conferences.
As a postgraduate advisor from 2006, Dr. Yu has taught courses in Architectural Design and Digital Architecture for undergraduate students, holds a design studio for senior undergraduate and graduate students, with a focus on interdisciplinary areas of Architecture and Digital Techniques. He had won the Prize of Out-standing Teachers in Southeast University from 2006 to 2018 for several times. The teaching and design projects directed and/or leading by him has won several top prizes in different important international competitions in architectural design including 2019 LA+ICONOCLAST and UIA-HYP cup, etc.
