Research direction: The theory and design methods relating to the superposition of physical and social space; responses to the urban and rural built environment under population aging and social transformation.
Professor Li Xiangfeng is a member of the Academic Committee, Teaching Committee, and Degree Committee of the School of Architecture. He also serves as the Executive Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Urban and Architectural Heritage Conservation of the Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of the Low Carbon Architecture Research Institute of Southeast University, Deputy Secretary of the Academic Committee of Architecture and Culture in the Architectural Society of China, Member of the section of Elderly Service Facilities in the China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization, and Member of the Architectural Design Committee of the Jiangsu Civil Engineering and Architectural Society. Professor Li is also a scholar supported by the Six Talent Peaks program of Jiangsu Province.
Taking the aging of populations and built environments as the threads of academic research, Professor Li’s studies focus on the design theory and methods relating to the superposition of physical and social space, mainly including: the improvement of the ecological sustainability and livability of urban and rural communities, age-friendly built environment and facilities, architectural ethics and environmental behavior, etc.
Professor Li has presided over 10 research projects and programs from the National Key R&D Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Provincial Education Reform Projects, and he has been the main participant in several others research projects. Professor Li has won more than 20 awards including the First Prize of China Academic and Industrial Research Cooperation, the First Prize of National Teaching Achievement, the First Prize of Construction Science and Technology Innovation of Jiangsu Province, and the First Prize of Outstanding Survey and Design Projects of the Urban and Rural Construction Sections of Jiangsu Province. He has guided students to win the Silver Award of Internet+ National Competition, the Gold Award of Challenge Cup National Competition, and awards in various competitions such as the Zijin Award and SDC International Solar Decathlon. In addition, Professor Li has published 5 monographs and over 60 papers in Chinese and international academic journals and conferences. He also completed over 50 architectural and planning projects.
