Wang Zheng, is the winner of the 11th “Young Architect Award” of Architectural Society of China. Since 2001, he has been teaching in School of Architecture of Southeast University, focusing on the design and theory courses of undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has visited ETH in the Switzerland.

The main research direction is architectural design and theory as well as urban design and theory. He insists on taking design study as the core combined with morphological research, “function - form” relations as the clue, focusing on relevant design theories and methods, and placing them in the reality of contemporary China to explore the autonomy of architecture and the possibility of its development at present. He has published the monograph Enquiry into Function: The Evolution of the Notions of Function in West Architecture since the 18th Century, and he is the co-writer of An Introduction to Urban Design, the co-translator of Modern Architecture through Case Studies 1945 to 1990 and Design Cities: Critical Readings in Urban Design. He has published more than 20 papers; won 17 national and provincial design awards for architectural and urban design; presided over and participated in 4 projects of national scientific research; been granted for 2 National Patent Right for Invention. Design teaching under his guidance was awarded nearly10 awards at home and abroad.
