FROM IDEA TO SPACE：The Thought and Practice of Emerging European Architects

“从理念到空间：欧洲年轻建筑师的实践与思考系列讲座”将邀请欧洲年轻一代建筑师分享他们的建筑思考与实践经历。这些年轻建筑师都曾求学于瑞士等欧洲国家的著名建筑院校，并且在ETHZ和Mendrisio等院校作为教席助教或客座教授任教多年。在教学的同时他们也开展独立的建筑实践。围绕教学成果和实践成果，他们已经在欧洲多地成功举办数场讲座。系列讲座的内容将包括他们的建筑思考与实践经历。

JOHANSEN SKOVSTED

Johansen Skovsted Arkitekter是一家位于哥本哈根的建筑事务所，由 Søren Johansen和 Sebastian Skovsted于 2014年创建。两人都曾就读于丹麦皇家学院，并在 2015-2021年间任教于该学院。他们曾在苏黎世联邦理工学院、巴比肯艺术中心、伦敦城市大学、波尔图建筑学院、奥斯陆建筑与设计学院、新南威尔士大学和悉尼歌剧院等机构讲学。2019年，他们在波尔图学院开设了一个工作室。

Johansen Skovsted Arkitekter is an architectural office based in Copenhagen, founded by Søren Johansen (b.1981) and Sebastian Skovsted (b.1982) in 2014. They both studied at the Royal Danish Academy, where they also taught from 2015-2021. They have lectured at institutions such as ETH Zurich, The Barbican, London Metropolitan University, Porto School of Architecture, the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, the University of New South Wales and the Sydney Opera House. In 2019, they ran a studio at the Porto Academy.

The office has won several prizes, such as the Henning Larsen Foundation’s Honorary Award for 2024, the Eckersberg Medal for 2024, the Dreyer Foundation’s Honorary Award for 2022, The Utzon Statuette for 2021, Nykredit Foundations’s Motivation Prize for 2021, the Häuser Award - Interior Prize for 2020, the AD Design Award for 2018, the Three-Year Working Grant by the Danish Arts Foundation for 2017, the Danish Crown Prince Couple’s Stardust Award for 2016 and the Bisballe Prize for 2015. In 2023 a monographic issue was published by 2G International.

URBAITE is an architecture practice founded in Zurich by João and Marija Urbaite. In their academic research and professional practice they engage with the tensions and contradictions intrinsic in the field of architecture. Currently they are focused on planning educational, residential and office building projects in neighbourhoods lacking distinct identities, aiming to implement adaptable constructions where space and construction are intertwined.

Leopold Banchini Architects is a multidisciplinary research team exploring the frontiers of space shaping. Deliberately ignoring borders and embracing globality, it aims to expend the traditional definitions of project making using DIY culture and eclecticism as means of emancipation. Deeply rooted in architectural history, it is interested as well in contemporary popular cultures as in vernacular traditions and crafts. Addressing architecture as a form of social action, it places political and environmental considerations at the very heart of its practice.

StudioSer merges ideas by Rina Rolli and Tiziano Schürch since 2019 in projects spanning both the northern and southern sides of the Alps. Based in Zurich and Lugano, their work explores the potential of Architecture conceived as a matter of encounters - whether between materials, time, or people. At the heart of their investigations lies the pursuit of revealing and strengthening the essence and uniqueness of a place, its community, and its history. In their practice, they take inspiration from the location at hand, as they believe that Architecture must be born and find its reason to exist starting from the environment in which it is inserted. By learning from the social-historical background of a place, clues from the past can be found and transformed into newly defining characteristics. This allows them to create punctual interventions which base on the specificity of a place, juggling between the urban scale and the minute detail.

Jan De Vylder, born 1968, is a Flemish architect based in Ghent and Brussels, Belgium. He has worked under his name since 2000. In 2005 together with Inge Vinck jan de vylder architecten was founded. Later on in 2010 architecten de vylder vinck taillieu was founded together with Inge Vinck and Jo Taillieu. And more recent architecten jan de vylder inge vinck was founded with Inge Vinck. In this divers constellations Jan De Vylder has realized several works in Belgium and abroad and has been exhibited in galleries like MANIERA (BE), FRIEDMAN BENDA (US), TOTO MA (JP) and biennials (Venice 2010, 2014, 2016, 2018; Chicago 2014, 2016; Lisbon 2019 and Sao Paolo 2019). Since 2010 editing houses like 2G (ES), A+U (JP), deAedibus (CH), ARCHIVE (ES) and more recent TOTO Publishers (JP) have published several monographs on the work of Jan De Vylder. Moreover severel international nominations and prizes have been won like Schelling Architektur Preise 2016 (DE), Leone d’Argento in La Biennale di Venezia 2018 (IT), Henry van de Velde-award 2018 (BE) and nominated finalist Mies Award 2019 (EU). Jan De Vylder has co-curated the Belgian Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia in 2016. The exhibitions Caroussel 2015 (gta/ETH-Z); Bravoure Scarcity Beauty (Venice 2016) and Unless Ever People (Venice 2018) opened new reflections on architecture and practice. Jan De Vylder has taught at Sint-Lucas School for Architecture in Ghent and Brussels, at TU Delft, at EPFL Lausanne, and at Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, and since 2017 he has been teaching at ETH Zurich.

Johansen Skovsted建筑设计事务所是一家年轻的获奖设计工作室，提供具体的、具有成本意识的、植根于当地的建筑，创造社会凝聚力并与周围环境进行对话。项目是在与客户、用户、利益相关者和政府部门的密切合作下完成的，目的是为每个人创造最好的条件。无论项目是改造还是新建，都会在尊重周边环境的基础上唤起人们对环境的关注。

在选择和使用传统材料、生物材料和再生材料的过程中，重点关注保护现有建筑存量以及循环利用和可回收性。建筑和材料的选择都是与当地人、专业人士和建筑行业的专家合作进行的，从而降低了与气候相关的成本、财务成本和维护成本。这种工作方法去粗取精，去除多余的层次，有助于项目的建筑表现力。

Johansen Skovsted能够在复杂的利益相关者和权力关系中，以及在对建筑或景观设计有特殊要求的自然条件下，胜任文化遗产和转型方面的工作。该工作室不仅重视建筑遗产的价值，还重视那些未被注意到的结构，它们作为已有故事、空间和材料的一种特别可塑的资源，蕴含着巨大的潜力。这是对当下、熟悉和工业的赞美，通过建筑设计、比例和空间效果将其转化为当代、原创和有特色的项目。

João Lourenço dos Santos和 Marija Urbaitè从门德里希奥建筑学院毕业后，在 Jan Kinsbergen和 Pascal Flammer的事务所积累了专业经验，随后在苏黎世成立了 URBAITE工作室。他们通过研究和专业实践，探索建筑领域固有的紧张关系和矛盾。他们目前的工作重点是创造空间和结构错综复杂地交织在一起的可适应性建筑，在缺乏鲜明特色的街区设计教育和办公项目。为苏黎世布伦嫩霍夫学校扩建设计的气候塔（2024-2030年）获得了公开竞赛一等奖。
